The Holocaust Case


Jørgen Bitsch found himself at the center of a nationwide controversy after entering the international holocaust cartoon contest. The Iranian contest has been labelled by the media as anti-Semitic and as denying the existence of the Holocaust. This is according to Jørgen Bitsch, completely unjustified. He sees his own contribution in the contest as a way of contributing to the debate of the actual state of the World by the means of the Holocaust. Click here for more:

Overdanmark

Satirical Newspaper strip with art and text by Jørgen Bitsch. It was a daily strip in Ekstra Bladet from 2003 to 2004 and (primarily as reruns) in Dagbladet Arbejderen in 2006.



Overdanmark the album was published in 2005 with a collection of 200 anti-establishment strips. The idea of Overdanmark is to increase the credebility and striking power of satire by use of documentary and realism in line of art as well as in the content.

Lawman

LAWMAN is written by danish science fiction writer Erwin Neutzsky-Wulff with art by Jørgen Bitsch. This political superhero strip had a 5 years break but is now an up to date satirical book.

It is not a retro strip. However it pays homage to the great american super hero strips of the 1940's, taking some of the rich artistic and narrative means of expression from these classical strips to an up to date political comment. This is also reflected in the characters. The main character is a right wing vigilante while subversive leftists make out the villains. No english translation available so far.

Gordons Verden

Gordons Verden was made in 2004 by danish writer and spoken word performer Gordon Inc and comic artist Jørgen Bitsch.

It did not hit the newspaper stands as the new great newspaperstrip of the 21. century it was intended to become. Some of the Gordons Verden strips however appear in Gordon Inc's book "Ord fra Fronten" 2006.

Courtroom sketches

Some would argue that this is not comic art. But Jørgen Bitsch says that all attempts to find the peak of expression in portrait and dramatize it in order to tell a human interest story is comic art. The police reporter at the newspaper wrote the stories. Each drawing in this section is made with crayons on paper before a live model.
